After uploading your first portfolio, you will at least have "Tier 1" named and populated with property data within the Portfolio Analytics application software.
Tip: You can check out our Data Upload Template to learn more about compulsory data during the upload process, and recommended tiering methodology.
If your investments can be segmented across multiple funds deploying overlapping strategies, for example, it may make sense for "Tier 1" to be labeled "Strategy" and "Tier 2" to be labeled "Fund" so you can hone in on the performance of that investment methodology across different investment vehicles. You may then further segment this by deal name, or portfolio, even the asset owner/operator.
Note: Because these are custom fields, you have the freedom to add whatever classification method or reference data you'd like (up to 150 characters, that is!).
All analytics will default to "All Tier 1" aka "no" filter until the user selects "Apply Filter" across any - or multiple - of the depicted dropdown(s):
Once a filter is selected and applied, you can save it for future reference, or "Add to Comparison" to quickly toggle and compare filtered results.
Tip: You can save a filter for quick-reference, or even to keep a log of whom you've shared a given "view" with (ex. "Person's Name - Date Shared").
